A New Era for India Studies

Innovative Multidisciplinary Education

The Bhandarkar Oriental Research Institute (BORI) embraced a new era of digital learning during the Covid-19 pandemic, launching its first online courses to connect global learners with India’s rich heritage and knowledge systems. What began as a response to unprecedented global challenges quickly evolved into a dedicated initiative, making BORI’s century-old tradition of scholarship accessible to participants around the world.

Building on this momentum, BORI established a collaborative partnership with Deccan College—another pillar of academic excellence—to further expand the reach and depth of its educational offerings. This collaboration brings together renowned faculty, curated resources, and a shared commitment to authentic, research-driven learning.

Drawing on a scholarly tradition, BORI now provides global learners with a unique opportunity to investigate pressing issues in Indian society, politics, economics, culture, public health, and technology through a multidimensional lens. Today, through the India Studies Program, we continue to innovate in online education, fostering a vibrant, inclusive community dedicated to building global citizenship and intercultural understanding.
